School Improvement Plan

Senior Leadership teams use a School Improvement Plan (SIP) as their main source of information to outline their strategic plans for the growth of their school. A school's stated principles will serve as the foundation for a school improvement plan, which outlines the steps and resources required to accomplish the goals.

Mission and Vision Statement

Aylen Junior High prepares and empowers every student to reach their full potential by providing a safe, supportive, and challenging learning environment where expectations are high and students are encouraged to raise the bar. Guided by The Falcon Way, we expect all students to take pride in their work, develop as critical thinkers and leaders who rise to the challenge and thrive in school and beyond.

Culture of Equity Statement

At Aylen, we are committed to a culture where everyone feels valued and supported. We examine our
practices and systems, address barriers to equity, and work intentionally to ensure every student has access to opportunity, belonging, and success.

School Improvement Plan Goals

Goal #1

By Spring 2026, Aylen Junior High will reduce the percentage of students scoring Level 1 (Inconsistent) on SBA/WCAS to ≤20% at each tested grade. We will also monitor and support our
Hispanic/Latino subset to ensure proportional growth alongside
schoolwide progress.

Goal #2

By Spring 2026, Aylen Junior High will strengthen its multitiered systems of support through a comprehensive intervention menu, digital tracking system, and structured RTI Flight Plan,
resulting in at least 70% of students receiving Tier 2/3 supports demonstrating measurable improvement, reduced behavioral incidents (≤700), reduced exclusionary
discipline (≤150), and increased 9th-grade credit attainment to support on-time graduation.

Goal #3

AJH will strengthen community and family connections by increasing participation in schoolwide events through intentional changes to prior
practices, expanded student
involvement, and new partnerships with community organizations to build belonging, increase student engagement, and support academic success. Baseline → Target Measures (2024–25 → 2025–26):

  • Back-to-School Night & Prep Day:
  • 40% family participation → 80% or higher
  • Hispanic Heritage Night:
  • 100 families → 150 families
  • Multicultural Fair: 6 student-hosted booths → 12 student-hosted booths
